WCW Nitro 1.07 Preview

Chaos has been the name of the game recently in WCW as we draw ever-closer to WCW's first solo pay-per-view of the year, Slamboree. Last week saw multiple superstars attacked and titles have been changing hands at a record pace.

WCW's Royal Rumble, Matt Cardona, got his revenge last on Terry Funk -- who attacked him one week earlier on Nitro. Cardona emerged as Funk was making his way to the ring to face Danhausen. Funk, however, did not heed the advice of WCW officials and continued on with his match, where he was able to find a way to win. Post-match, Cardona again appeared at the top of the stage and then two heated rivals had to be separated once again. Rather than suspending either of the superstars, WCW GM, Eric Bischoff, has instead announced the two will go head-to-head this week in Nitro's main event.

The Steiner Brothers, two weeks ago, won the right to challenge the New Age Outlaws for the WCW World Tag Team Championship at Slamboree. The Outlaws responded last week by attacking Scott Steiner in the parking lot. As a result, Scott Steiner has not been medically cleared to compete this week and will continue to be evaluated in the coming weeks leading up to Slamboree. His brother, Rick, however, has vowed revenge for his brother and has challenged Road Dogg to a singles match this week on Nitro. The angry Steiner had this to say: "New Age Outlaws ... I know you boys are scared, but you've barked up the wrong tree this time! You took out my brother last week and now there will be hell to pay! Road Dogg tonight it starts with you. And Billy, don't worry boy, you'll get yours next week! Road Dogg, if you're a man -- which I have my doubts -- you'll come to the ring alone tonight!" Bischoff has made the match official and it will happen tonight on WCW Monday Nitro.

Last week's main event on Nitro saw Jacob Fatu challenge El Grande Americano for his recently-won WCW United States Championship. Fatu continued his hot streak and made quick work of the champion and was able to capture his first championship in WCW. Fatu, who is not scheduled to appear on Nitro this week, has announced he will defend his title at Slamboree against the winner of a triple threat qualifying match which will take place on next week's Nitro.

WCW's Money in the Bank ladder match qualifying matches continue this week with two more matchups. This week will see Eddie Guerrero go one-on-one with Shawn Spears and the "Lemon Peppa Steppa" Trick Williams take on Ricky Saints. Last week, the first two spots in the MITB Ladder match were claimed by Rob Van Dam and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio.

Other action on tonight's episode of Nitro will include Rey Fenix vs Danhausen and Rey Mysterio defending with WCW World Television Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo.

Be sure to tune into tonight's WCW Monday Nitro on the official HTF YouTube channel.
